This privacy policy describes how Sail Dash ("the app") handles your information. Sail Dash is an independently operated iOS app. Contact: support@saildash.app.
What information we collect
Account information: If you create an account, we store your email address, sail number, and the timestamp at which you accepted the terms of use. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive a unique identifier from that provider plus your email address.
Location data: While the app is in use, we collect your device's GPS location so the app can display your speed, heading, distance to a coach-set top mark, and record your track for post-session review. Location is also shared live with other devices in the same coaching session that have your session code. Location is not collected when the app is closed.
Session data: Your GPS track, speed, heading, and any coach-set notes associated with a session are stored on our backend (Google Firebase Realtime Database) so that devices within the same session can see each other and so you can review the session afterwards.
What we do not collect
We do not collect analytics, tracking identifiers, or advertising identifiers.
We do not collect contacts, photos, microphone, or any other device-level data not described above.
We do not sell data to third parties. There are no ads in the app.
Who can see your data
You: Your account profile, session history, and tracks are readable only by you when signed in.
Other users in the same session: Your live position, speed, heading, and sail number are visible to any device that has joined the session with its 7-character session code.
Us: As the developer, the author has administrative access to the backend for maintenance. We do not review or use session data.
Google / Apple / Firebase: Infrastructure providers that host the backend. They are bound by their own privacy policies.
How long we keep data
Session data remains in the backend until you delete your account. Account deletion removes your profile and session index. Raw session GPS tracks under a session code may persist as part of shared session data if other sailors participated in the same session.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account from inside the app at any time: Account screen → Delete Account. This removes your profile, sign-in credentials, and session history index. A re-authentication step is required. There is no separate web form; everything is in-app.
Children
Sail Dash is intended for use by sailors and coaches. If the app is used by a minor, it should be under parental or coach supervision. We do not knowingly collect additional data from children beyond what is described above.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated date at the top of this page will be revised. Material changes will also be announced inside the app.
